Preface All praise is due to Allah. We praise Him, seek His Aid and ask for His Forgiveness. We seek Allah's refuge from the evils of ourselves and from the evil of our actions. Whomsoever Allah guides none can lead astray, and whomsoever Allah leads astray none can guide. I testify that none has the right to be worshiped but Allah alone, having no partners, and I testify that Muhammad (pbuh) is his slave and Messenger. Some of the human sciences, which are related to the study of human soul: in its feelings, affections, reactions, emotions, behavior and thought, are still lacking a legal authentication, which derived from the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Prophet (pbuh) as well as borrow some of the western modern studies in this regard. Therefore, this book is but a small and modest effort to try and study one aspect of the human feelings, which we all suffer from, even for a short period of time, that is, "The Feeling of Grief and Depression". Grief is a natural disposition in the human soul. The soul feels angry when it is deprived of something. Grief can also be spontaneous and willful, whereas it is related to one's faith, belief and thought. A person feels sad when he sees Muslims afflicted with disasters and tribulations, because of his love for Muslims and Islam. His grief is intensified whenever his faith is increased, and lessened whenever his faith is decreased. Accordingly, true believers and righteous people feel more grief when the principles and rulings of religion are lost, the Muslims Holy Lands are violated and Muslims suffer severe trials and tribulations at the hand of evildoers, who claim to belong to Islam. Unfortunately, the author of the book did not have the chance to present it, himself, to his readers. He died before this book was published. The reader will find the book very useful and interesting, because the author was well versed in Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence) and modern science. He was competent in his scientific field as a psychiatrist, and had legal knowledge (Fiqh). This was the first of his many books to be published after his death in the prime of his life, may Allah have mercy upon him. I ask Allah to reward the author of this book, on the Day of Judgement, for his modest efforts. And Peace and Blessings upon our Beloved Messenger, Muhammad (pbuh).
